Julia in a white dress, sitting by a white orchid

Hello, I’m Julia!

Julia Colletes (they/them) is a Japanese-Brazilian American visual artist. They primarily work in painting, printmaking, and fiber arts, focusing on the unity of the human experience with the broader natural world. Since graduating from the Visual & Critical Studies program at the School of Visual Arts in 2021, they have exhibited in various group shows at home and abroad, including "Spectrum" at Stay Home Gallery in Paris, Tennessee in 2021 and "Synergie: Zerfall und Blüme" at Galerie MoonART in Leipzig, Germany in 2023. They have also had the honor of being an artist in residence at the Loisaida Center from 2023-2024, where they established a community soft lab for fiber and textile arts. Currently based in Pawling, New York, they have recently begun painting a series of portraits of imagined rocks as a means to explore each subject’s physical, spiritual, and mythical presence.
